Study Abroad

General

American Jewish University is proud to offer options for our current and prospective students. We are committed to:

  • Continually maintaining traditions of academic excellence in all study abroad programs.
  • Effectively facilitating long term study (semester and yearlong programs).
  • Easily integrating study abroad with on-campus academic programs and activities; this includes effective advising, close coordination between international programs and the relevant academic units.

Hebrew University

The University sponsors a junior year abroad program with the Rothberg School of Hebrew University in  Jerusalem.  AJU students may spend their junior year studying at  Hebrew  Universityin  Jerusalem.  All students participate in a Hebrew Ulpan and take courses in Israeli and Jewish history as well as courses that may fulfill Core and major requirements.  Students apply through the Student Affairs Office.

College grads ages 21-35: The WUJS Institute in Arad is a 5-month program during which you will be immersed in Israeli culture and life. Join a community of other Jews from around the world as you study Hebrew intensely in one of Israel's strongest ulpanim, take classes from experts in Judaism and Israeli politics, culture, and society, and travel around the country on fascinating, weekly in-depth study seminars.  Choose from three specialized tracks: Land, Language, and Society; Arts; and Peace and Social Justice.

AJUI -- American Jewish University in Israel

American Jewish University works in collaboration with Young Judaea, the national youth program sponsored by Hadassah, to provide participants with an opportunity to earn academic credit, build leadership skills and further develop their Jewish identity during the yearlong program in Israel. This program is for freshmen only. American Jewish University accredits this program. Students can earn up to 27 credits for the academic portion of Year Course. Admission to Year Course does not guarantee admission to American Jewish University. Similarly, admission to AJU does not guarantee admission to Year Course.

Benefits of going to Year Course as an AJU student include:

  • Students can still graduate from AJU in 4 years since the academic credits easily transfer.
  • Students can be admitted to AJU before going to Israel.
  • Students can secure on-campus housing before departing for the Year Course program.
  • Students may meet future classmates during this experience in Israel.
  • Students can apply for AJU academic and leadership scholarships, which may be applied only on the AJU campus.

WUJS Institute in Arad

The WUJS Institute allows young Jewish graduates and professionals from around the world an opportunity to experience Israel in the most exciting and creative manner possible. WUJS provides one of Israel’s best Ulpan (Hebrew language) programs, and extensive courses in Israel and Jewish studies. Our top-rate faculty caters to a range of Hebrew and Israel/Jewish knowledge. Our holistic approach to Israel and Hebrew studies incorporates weekly field trips, overnight hikes, meetings with Israeli peers, volunteer options and a variety of fun and enriching activities. Participants live and study in a warm, pluralistic environment and are supported by a professional and experienced staff. The WUJS Institute actively works to strengthen the surrounding community, the State of Israel, and the Jewish people.
